In most of my career I have held one or another academic job title, which might encourage the impression that my work experience is entirely in teaching and research. In fact, however, academic positions give you lots of opportunities to initiate, plan, and execute projects of different kinds. This sort of work is vital for making a university a good place to learn and do research, and for me it is an important and valuable part of my work. I often take an adaptive or agile approach to the projects I manage, although my specific strategy varies depending on the needs of the project.
